Anthony Champalimaud

Founder and Managing Director

Anthony Champalimaud is a co-founder and a Managing Director of The Working Group (“TWG”).  He is an experienced real estate developer, investor, operator, and advisor specialized in hospitality. Anthony formerly served as Managing Director of and is currently a Board Member of Champalimaud Design (www.champalimaud.design).    

Anthony is TWG’s lead partner overseeing Troutbeck, a historic, county house hotel and residential community in Amenia, NY on behalf of an investment partnership in which he, Douglas Horne, and Bruce Schnitzer are Members of the General Partner. Troutbeck is an independently managed member of Design Hotels and recipient of the: 2019 AHEAD Award for Best Hotel Renovation in the Americas; the 2018 and 2020 Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award; and, the #5 rank among 2020’s 10 Best hotels in the Mid-Atlantic by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler.

Prior to forming TWG, Anthony collaborated with D. R. Horne & Company (“DRH”) on a range of client engagements and led Griffin Land Corp, a planning, owners’ representative and investment practice. Through Griffin, Anthony acted as Owners’ Representative for YTL Hotels on a range of projects, including the distressed purchase and the redevelopment of Niseko Village, Japan and the development of The Gainsborough, Bath Spa, UK, The Academy Hotel, London, UK and Monkey Island Estate, Bray, UK. As principal, Anthony has been a co-investor and financial advisor on two distressed, hospitality real estate investments in Florida that emerged from the Great Financial Crisis.

Anthony holds a B.A. in English and Political Science from Bishop’s University and a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from the Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation. He serves as a member of the board of The Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy in Litchfield, CT.
