Ed Bakos, CEO and a Partner of Champalimaud Design, serves as a Design Advisor to TWG. Ed has 25+ years of experience managing the design of complex, high-profile, luxury hospitality and restaurant projects. Ed is widely recognized as an industry leader and innovative pacesetter in hospitality design and is credited with having led the creation and execution of distinctive and acclaimed architectural spaces.
Prior to his leadership roles at Champalimaud and TWG, Ed served as a Principal and Studio Leader of the Rockwell Group. Among his long list of distinguished hospitality and restaurant projects, Ed spearheaded the design of Notre Dame, the Belvedere Hotel in Mykonos, the Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Jaleo Restaurant, Geoffrey Zakarian’s The National and Town, Print Restaurant and Press Lounge at Ink 48 in New York, the Andaz Wall Street and the Marina Bay Sands Casino project in Singapore.
Ed has also served as an esteemed professor of architecture at Cornell University’s Rome campus and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, shaping and inspiring the minds of many young professionals. He is the recipient of numerous design awards, including a Presidential Design Award for his role in the renovation of the Lower Concourse of New York’s Grand Central Terminal, several Gold Key Awards, and a Boutique Design Award for Best Hotel in 2010.
Ed graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Architecture and received a Master of Architecture from Harvard University.
